About
Welcome to Big Star Wrigleyville, a vibrant culinary gem nestled at 3640 N Clark St, Chicago. This lively establishment captures the essence of Mexican flavors, offering an unforgettable dining experience just a stone’s throw from Wrigley Field. With its inviting atmosphere and friendly staff, Big Star is the perfect spot to kick back, especially before a Cubs game.
The menu showcases a tantalizing array of starters and tacos that reflect a commitment to quality and authenticity. Starting off with their Chips & Salsa, house-made tortilla chips paired with both Salsa Rojo and Salsa Verde, you’re treated to an explosion of flavors. For something more indulgent, the Big Star Nachos are a must-try, featuring crispy tortilla chips slathered in nacho cheese and layered with pico de gallo, pickled jalapeños, and guacamole—ideal for sharing (or not!).
Choosing a taco can be a delightful dilemma here. The Taco Al Pastor stands out with marinated pork shoulder complemented by grilled pineapple and onion. For chicken lovers, the Taco De Pollo delivers with grilled chicken enveloped in a rich poblano chile salsa. Vegetarian options like the Taco De Papas are equally enticing, offering crispy potatoes with chipotle flavors that are satisfying and filling. Each taco is a work of art, harmoniously blending fresh ingredients and bold seasonings.

“ Definitely stop in here when in Wrigleyville. The big star salad was delicious, services was absolutely five star. Kevin and Coren went above and beyond, this was the best restaurant service I’ve had in a long time. ”
“ Great spot for pregame drinks to a Cubs game. Great whiskey selection, too, if that's your jam. Tacos also a great snack. Csnt go wrong with an Al Pastor taco . ”
“ I went to big star in Wrigleyville for the first time today by accident. I stumbled in and was greeted by pleasant fellow by the name of cosmo. He had great customer service and checked on us periodically. Amazing service amazing food! Will definitely be back! ”
“ Huge new location with the same great tacos and margaritas! The 2nd level tables facing the stadium have a great view for game days. The plan to open a taco stand for late night runs. The patio isn't open yet and probably won't be ready by the 2018 Cubs season opener. ”
“ Amazing service. Came after work for a take-out order, and was checked on multiple times by different folks. Super kind, explained the menu and made my first time here smooth. The bartender was the single most attentive bartender I’ve seen in a long time, taking care of multiple tasks and guests simultaneously. Thank you guys! ”
“ The nachos were fire. They came out so fast and the guac was fresh af. Cold Lone Star and some mezcal went down like water. Great spot. Will be back. Coren was chill and on point with the beers, great dude ”
“ Have been a longtime fan of Big Star, especially their fish tacos. Had the chance to try their Panza tacos which actually are now going to be a regular order. The queso was delicious too. All in all, a reliably good place to go to in Chicago. On the slightly pricier side. Service is friendly and warm. ”
“ The food at Big Star has been reliably great for many years now, yet it's gotten even better over the last year with the addition of daily specials such as the burger on Mondays and ceviche on Fridays, free brunch for kids on weekends, and a rewards program that actually WORKS with free meals on offer after just a few purchases. With the fun and personable bartenders, barbacks and managers, it's also an excellent place to hang out whether or not events are happening at Wrigley Field across the street and at the entertainment venues down the street. The strong WiFi connection and many plug outlets along the enormous hollow square bar facilitate phone charging and remote working such that it's easy to pass many hours here, too. ONE CRITICISM: Up until February, the staff really added a lot of color and life to the bar with their own unique apparel. Now they're all in drab black uniforms as though Big Star had been dumbed down to a Chipotle or McDonald's. Several of the other Big Star loyalists and I - who have made Big Star a staple of our lives since the early 2010s - feel really alienated by this. We could understand a lapel or bandana to make it easy to identify staff when they aren't behind the bar, but the uniforms really disrupt the vibrant brand of Big Star to its detriment. If other loyalists and I are going to keep feeling connected to Big Star for years to come, we need it to revert to its totally cool and creative feel and steer clear of becoming another Chipotle. FWIW, some of the newer customers with whom I spoke were also disturbed by the uniforms. ”
